Helen Walsh

Helen Walsh was born in the UK (Leicester) but grew up in West Cork; she studied Fine Art Sculpture in Limerick College of Art & Design, where she graduated in1989. Soon after she was commissioned to make two permanent, public works of Art. In 1994 she was awarded residency to Australia on grounds of distinguished talent. There she worked on sets and props for TV, film & advertising.
She moved back to West Cork where she now lives and works full time and has her studio there. Since 2009 she has completed a number of private commissions and has exhibited her work in galleries and sculpture gardens.

In October 2012 her work was featured on the TG4 Arts Program 'Imeall'. Helen works mainly with metals; her work is often linear and has an ethereal quality. When her works are placed they almost become like drawings in their surroundings, enabling and enticing the viewer to look and be drawn not only to the work but through it. Movement and balance are integral elements of her work.
